The City of Paris intends to re-examine the configuration of its designated “exceptional tourist areas” (“ZTAEs”).
Today, 7 such areas have been officially recognized, containing a total of 15,000 shops.
– Rue de Rivoli
– Avenue des Champs-Elysées
– Viaduc des Arts
– Place des Vosges and rue des Francs-Bourgeois
– Rue d’Arcole
– Boulevard Saint-Germain
– Montmartre
The specific characteristic of these designated areas is that the shops inside them are allowed to open on Sundays.
The City of Paris therefore wishes to make sure that the exemption status granted to these areas is compatible with the rights of shopworkers and is economically appropriate for the shops and local residents concerned.
